Election of Officers & Representatives for 2011
The Christ Church Cathedral Nominating Committee is completing the nomination process of candidates for vestry and other leadership roles. Elections will be held at the 2011 annual meeting on Sunday, March 13. The open positions include:
Senior Warden: One person to be elected for a one-year term.
Junior Warden: One person to be elected to a one-year term.
Vestry Members: Three people to be elected to six-year terms.
Nominating Committee: Four people to be elected to a one-year term.
Diocesan Convention Delegates: Four people to be elected to a one- year term, two serving as delegates along with the wardens and two serving as alternative delegates.
Nomination Process Timeline
Beginning December 19: The Nominating Committee will review all nominations for qualifications, skills and experience (see below) for each of the open positions. Committee members will then contact the nominees best meeting the criteria to ask if they are willing to serve.
February 6, 2011: The Nominating Committee will publish the names of the candidates up for election. The committee plans to recommend more than one individual for the each open position to allow the congregation a greater participation in electing its leaders.
March 13, 2011: The congregation will vote for its 2011 leaders.
Qualifications
To be considered as a candidate for the 2011 election, a nominee must:
(1) Be a confirmed member of the Episcopal Church.
(2) Be recognized by the congregation as a member in good standing (for the facilitation of communication and for credibility).
(3) Attend worship services on a regular basis (for visibility and interaction with other members).
(4) Participate actively on a guild or committee (for a working knowledge of congregational operations).
(5) Demonstrate leader ability.
(6) Have a consistent record of financial support (the amount is not important, the commitment is).
(7) Be willing and able to expend the time necessary to perform the duties of the position.
