Music at the Cathedral

"Come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!" - Psalm 95:1

Overview of the Music Program

Music is an integral part of who we are at Christ Church Cathedral. When we gather for worship, we sing together exuberantly as a congregation; our choirs offer a variety of superb literature from the Anglican cathedral tradition and beyond; and our organ gives voice to emotions ranging from exuberant praise to deep lament. In all that we do to support Word and Sacrament in the liturgy through music, we seek to glorify God and nourish God's people, pursuing excellence and offering the best of our abilities to the One in whose name we gather.

We also participate in the rich cultural life of Cincinnati, offering a series of organ recitals on third Sundays of the month, weekly Music Live at Lunch performances and other concerts. Our love for music can be heard by passersby as our cast bronze bells mark every quarter hour and peal out well-known hymns at particular times of day.

Other beloved traditions in our musical life include evensong services on first Sundays of the month, an annual performance of Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols, a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on the Sunday before Christmas and the popular Boar's Head & Yule Log Festival.
