Programming for Children
"Little children, let us love . . ." –1 John 3:1Children's Gospel Time on Sundays mornings Summer in the CityOnce again, we are offering a fun Vacation Bible School for children this summer. See the details, how to register and whom to contact for more information below.
Vacation Bible School Children will step into the cathedral's time machine and be catapulted back to Rome during the time of the apostle Paul's imprisonment. They will visit Paul in his cell. They will learn about the early Christian Church, the courage of early Christians and God's love. Then they will set off to explore a crowded Roman marketplace where they will be able to try on a toga and nibble on rat. (Okay. So it's chicken dressed like a rat.) They will race in chariots. Mostly they will experience the power of Scripture. Children beginning kindergarten through the sixth grade are welcome. The cost is $30 per child. Scholarships are available. For more information, contact Judy Beiring. Register online. Or, print out a registration form to complete and mail or leave at the church. About Our Regular Program
We have three levels of children's programming:
For preschoolers and those in the early elementary grades, we offer Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a Montessori-based curriculum that has proven very successful for young children.
For older children, the classes will include the Catechesis curriculum, as well as supplementary materials such as Old Testament stories and more active learning activities.
For the preteens, classes will take on a new look, using a curriculum created by Canon Joanna Leiserson called Weaving Gods Promises. This curriculum is a Bible-based program rooted in the liturgical year, with a strong emphasis on worship, education and service as the threefold components of Christian living. These programs run September through May. |
