The Rev. Canon Bob Gerhard joined the cathedral staff in 1994. Prior to this, he served for 25 years as rector of St. Thomas Church in Terrace Park, Ohio. He has also served congregations in Rockford, Illinois; Three Rivers, Missouri; and Barrington, Illinois.

Bob was ordained a priest in 1957. He is a graduate of Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, where he earned his Master of Divinity. He earned a bachelor's degree from the Federal Maritime Academy and went on to serve as a deck officer on the American Export Steamship with the U.S. Coast Guard.

Bob was a lieutenant with the U.S. Navy and served in Korea.

He and his wife, Ernestine, have four grown children.
