"Make a joyful noise to God "- Psalm 66:1
Our music program exists for many reasons. To glorify God; to nurture spiritual growth in worship; to give persons of talent a way to share their gifts; to educate; to create a place of belonging; to contribute to the artistic life of the greater community these are all part of our purpose.
Our choirs draw upon the standard Anglican cathedral repertoire, as well as the folk-based and studied music of African-Americans. We highlight our special liturgies with the singing of choral masses on major church festivals, such as Christmas, All Saints' and All Souls' (with a Requiem Mass). We also commission contemporary composers to write for us pieces such as Scott Eyerly's Psalm 71.
Beyond worship, we present free recitals of classical music on first and third Tuesdays October through May, recitals twice monthly on Sunday afternoons and occasional evening concerts. Our annual presentation of the Boar's Head and Yule Log Festival has been a Cincinnati tradition for over 67 years.
Charles Hogan, our interim music director, has brought exciting new direction to our music programs. To learn more, explore the links to the right. Then come and discover the beauty and power of Music at the Cathedral.
